A Review of 8 Violet Perfumes

Keep Updated – be sure to like us on Facebook!

The scent of violets, anybody? Whilst, for some of us, this lovely fragrance beings back memories of our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers, it is timeless. Did you know that the scent of violets was especially popular in the 19th century?

It is perhaps fitting that this multi-fragrance review is presented by a site whose central theme is weddings. After all, violets would make a wonderful, unique choice by a bride on her big day.

You would need to have a scout around to find many of the products mentioned in the one place – Nordstrom or FragranceX could be a good start, as could even Amazon or your local drugstore.

UK readers could, for a start, try Boots or Superdrug.

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine – Review

Orange Sanguine is, according to Atelier Cologne, themselves, a ‘zesty and energizing burst of crushed ripe fruit’ which ‘plays off sweet blood orange juice against bitter orange peel and sensual notes of geranium’.

It is available in 3 sizes (including a travel-size) with a removable pump allows for splash or spray use – nice touch! For the (largest) 6.7oz version, you can expect to pay around $150 at Sephora though it can sometimes be slightly cheaper at Amazon.

UK readers will find it at Selfridges.

Described as a ‘lustrous, long-wearing lipstick infused with conditioners to provide comfortable wear and sumptuously silky color’, the product is also vitamin E enriched.

According to Bobbi Brown, her Lip Gloss is ‘formulated with soothing botanical extracts – including Avocado, Jojoba and Chamomile Oils, and Aloe Extract – to keep lips soft and supple; plus the new tapered applicator lets you apply it like a pro. Scented with a hint of Vanilla’. Mmmm…delicious. I can taste it!

This popular product comes in 19 shades, which you can see right here and can be applied to bare lips or over the top of your existing lipstick.

We have a review for you that includes a swatch of the ‘Rosy’ shade.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – Review

Heat and humidity – two of the natural enemies of your makeup. There are various products out there designed to ‘fix’ makeup for an extended period or – indeed – many of us will have our own techniques or workarounds.

Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is marketed as being capable of keeping your makeup in place ‘for up to 16 hours’.

So, let’s see how the product performs against this claim when it is put to the test.

Review – Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Makeup

What is all the hype about Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Liquid Makeup?

It is described as a ‘weightless and virtually invisible liquid foundation that creates a luminous, demi-matte finish’. So, how does it perform when put to use by a leading industry pro? Actually, the story is even more interesting because the (Emmy Award winning) pro was given samples by a cosmetics rep (not in itself unusual) and – rather than consigning them to the bottom drawer – decided to put them to the test.

The reviewer even provides a small visual aid to assist you in your choice of Philosophy’s cleansers, depending on your skin type.
