Keep Updated - be sure to like us on Facebook!

Play it Lovely (a ‘sister’ fragrance to Play It Sexy and Play It Spicy) is available as both an eau de toilette and as a deodorant body spray. Playboy describes it as ‘a fresh, easy-to-wear floral fragrance with an uplifting and delightful opening. Its heart is an exquisite bouquet of modern femininity which, as it settles, gives way to a warm and sensual base’.

Sounds lovely and – as we know – there is still a large, dedicated fan-base for the Playboy brand. So, how does it stand up when put to the test?

Too much perfume? Is there such a thing? Well, actually – yes – there is. We have all experienced that feeling of near suffocation in a small room containing a number of people all drenched in their favorite fragrances, right?

And, of course, we are all so accustomed to our own aroma, that we hardly even notice it.

The scent of violets, anybody? Whilst, for some of us, this lovely fragrance beings back memories of our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers, it is timeless. Did you know that the scent of violets was especially popular in the 19th century?

It is perhaps fitting that this multi-fragrance review is presented by a site whose central theme is weddings. After all, violets would make a wonderful, unique choice by a bride on her big day.

You would need to have a scout around to find many of the products mentioned in the one place – Nordstrom or FragranceX could be a good start, as could even Amazon or your local drugstore.

UK readers could, for a start, try Boots or Superdrug.

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine – Review

Orange Sanguine is, according to Atelier Cologne, themselves, a ‘zesty and energizing burst of crushed ripe fruit’ which ‘plays off sweet blood orange juice against bitter orange peel and sensual notes of geranium’.

It is available in 3 sizes (including a travel-size) with a removable pump allows for splash or spray use – nice touch! For the (largest) 6.7oz version, you can expect to pay around $150 at Sephora though it can sometimes be slightly cheaper at Amazon.

UK readers will find it at Selfridges.

Firstly, it has to be said – this top end product is expensive. Very expensive. You can expect to pay in the region of $200 at Sephora.

The ‘1966’ in the name, by the way, is an homage to a silk scarf created for Grace Kelly in 1966. Gucci describes Flora as ‘a floral chypre blending elegance with a touch of sensuality’. In terms of the aromas, bourbon pepper, peony, rose, and patchouli all get a mention.

‘From the first smell, we recognize the tangy Raspberry that was present in the original version. The Violet Leaves give way to a voluptuous and sexy heart. Finally, the vibrant note of Cedarwood evokes the sensuality’. So say Lanvin in their evocative description of this relatively recent addition to their fragrances range. Sounds wonderful.

So, how does Jeanne Lanvin Couture fare when reviewed?

Dior Addict Eau Délice – Review

The Dior Addict range is particularly prominent right now, with its headline advertising featuring supermodel Daphné Groeneveld in an homage to the young Brigitte Bardot! These ads are delightful, actually!

Dior describes this fragrance as ‘an explosion of charm, a fruity floral composition that will whet your appetite’. In terms of its character, it is designed to be a ‘new fruity floral fragrance that is luminous and opulent’.

So, how does Eau Délice stack up against these claims?
